For the majority of the assignments, I required Ali to work from still life. We began with simple objects, and as we progressed I wanted her to go from objects to the human form. Because it is difficult to find someone who will sit still long enough to draw them, I allowed her to work from a photograph.

This was also one of her first painting assignment. I first had her draw her subject to make sure she got the correct proportions and positions of the features of the face. The finished product is impressive especially knowing the dimensions are 18X24. Let me again say, this was done by a 12 year old.
