I built the top of the canopy board myself from a piece of 1"X4" oak. I cut it to length added the sides so it would bump out away from the wall, and added brackets, both that attached to the ceiling, and at the sides, but the side ones are more for decoration. I had to add trim at the top because there is a bit of a slump to the ceiling, and there were gaps on either end of the board. I had taken the trim out of the old piano I gutted, and it worked well with the crown molding! I, by the way, put the crown molding up all by myself, no help from anyone at all thank you very much!
