These works deal with the personal and the universal, and how this duality can have an impact on the viewer. I paint both overtly figurative as well as purely abstract, and further combining the two worlds to convey complex ideas. With the tools of history before me, my work is unapologetically linked to realism, surrealism, abstract expressionism, and even DADAism. I seek to take as many points in my work into consideration as possible. A piece like God Love I Breed for you I Bleed for you, for example, was not just made with the sheer impact of the recognizable human forms in mind. Colors and layering of the surface where as important to the piece as the human forms and choice of title. All parts of the composition are a representation of the process of thought. It is the mud of the human mind we must work through to find both personal and universal truth.
These are some of the works I have done between 2002 and 2008. New work coming soon.
